I'm Hailey Thomas — a teacher, community advocate, and proud Memphian fighting for better schools and brighter futures for every student.
I'm running for the MSCS School Board because our students and teachers deserve better. As a fifth-generation Memphian and classroom teacher, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges our schools face — from underfunding and overcrowded classrooms to the lack of support that drives great educators away.
I know what it means to overcome adversity. Diagnosed with epilepsy at 13, I learned early how to stay focused, stay determined, and defy expectations. Those experiences shaped my commitment to education and my belief that every child deserves the chance to succeed.
I am committed to improving resources, strengthening teacher support, and creating safe, supportive school environments for all students.
BUILDING A STRONGER FUTURE FOR EVERY STUDENT
-
Our students deserve safe, supportive schools where they can thrive. I will push for increased mental-health resources, restorative practices, and access to social-emotional support so every child feels seen, valued, and protected every day.
-
As a classroom teacher, I know firsthand how lack of support pushes educators away. I will fight for competitive pay, smaller class sizes, stronger professional development, and policies that respect teachers as the professionals they are — so we can keep great educators in Memphis.

Every student deserves the opportunity to graduate ready for college, careers, and the world ahead. I will work to expand CTE programs, dual-enrollment access, digital learning tools, and partnerships that help students discover their strengths and their future paths.
